Southern Living / Madison Woiten

Fall coats are some of my favorite pieces to shop for because I find myself reaching for lightweight layers more than anything else throughout the year. And this season, I’m seeing barn jackets everywhere, so I found 10 styles at a variety of price points that you’ll want to shop from favorites like Old Navy, Tuckernuck, Lands End, Nordstrom Rack, and more.

Barn jackets are warm enough to keep you cozy, yet lightweight enough to easily wear layers underneath. The one style I can’t stop thinking about is this canvas number from Old Navy that’s on-trend, versatile, and so cute for just $60. You also can never go wrong with anything from L.L. Bean—the quality is incredible—so check out this flannel-lined style that you can keep wearing well into winter. If you’re open to splurging on a coat you’ll wear for years, this Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket from Tuckernuck is definitely for you.

Old Navy

Large front pockets, a standout collar, and an easy-to-use zipper are three of the hallmarks of barn jackets, and this Old Navy one checks every box. It’s made from a comfortable mix of 98 percent cotton and 2 percent spandex and designed to have a relaxed fit that lands at your hips. The corduroy collar and combination zip and snap closure are two of my favorite details, which add to the overall signature look. You can shop in standard, petite, and tall sizes XS to 4X.

Tuckernuck

A Barbour wax jacket is at the top of my wishlist, and the Beadnell is the exact style I would purchase from Tuckernuck. This is a dressier version of a classic barn jacket that incorporates the brand’s classic waxed cotton exterior with a tartan lining that you can see when the sleeves are rolled up at the cuffs. I also love that this jacket has moleskin-lined pockets designed to keep your hands warm as temperatures drop. Keep in mind that the Beadnell style fits true to size, according to shoppers, but it does have a slim, tailored fit (another favorite detail). Score one in olive, navy, or sage in sizes 0 to 18 while stock lasts.

Lands End’s quilted barn jacket is reversible, which means you can create two distinct looks for the price of one. It comes in classic duos like black and rustic brown (pictured above), dark green and forest navy, and punchy, dark rose clay and dusk gray in sizes XS to XL. The quilting paired with the corduroy collar and simple button closure makes this an easy jacket to dress up or dress down. Lands End even highlights that it’s best worn in temperatures ranging from 17 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit so you can easily wear it through the winter.

Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack has fantastic deals on barn jackets, including this Lucky Brand faux shearling style that’s on sale for 62 percent off. It’s made from a cozy combination of 100 percent polyester, and you can flip between a faux shearling side and a faux suede side to easily create different looks depending on your outfit and mood. Most importantly, either option has large functioning pockets and a standout collar. Choose from cappuccino and camel or black in sizes XS to XL.

L.L.Bean

L.L. Bean’s pieces are always well-made and ultra-warm, so you can expect the same things from the Adirondack Flannel-Lined Barn Coat. It’s priced from $129, and it has a relaxed fit that the brand highlights is “easy to move in and layer under.” The exterior cotton canvas is even water-repellent, and the button closure, corduroy collar, and interior flannel lining add both warmth and style to the.You can shop the outerwear piece in a pretty and versatile olive green color (Loden) in regular, petite, and plus sizes XS to 3X.

Barn jackets are an ideal midweight layer to wear throughout fall and well into winter with your favorite sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans, and boots, and there are plenty of options to choose from while prices start at just $60.
